The brighter side of darkness
As we all get excited about being able to talk to our home technology from our smartphones, and for them to talk to each other and have a party, being able to effectively turn away unwanted guests at the door becomes a priority.
It was reported in May 2016 (mashable.com) that a University of Michigan security study on the Samsung Smarthings platform revealed vulnerability to hackers. So there is still some work to do to keep out the entities who’s only interest is to trash the place.
It’s good therefore to know that the Guardian Project that maintains the Tor anonymity network on the darkweb for undesirables have proof-tested software that can be applied to the internet-of-things to protect our homes.
